Greater Philadelphia is home to thousands of nonprofits, from eds-and-meds behemoths such as Jefferson and the University of Pennsylvania to grassroots neighborhood organizations.

These entities, large and small, collectively strive to support the region's prosperity by aiding residents on issues of health, education, employment, finance, housing and equality.

To do their best work these organizations need some support themselves, and that's where corporate citizenship plays its part. Philadelphia-area companies magnify the reach and impact of many local nonprofits through volunteerism and monetary donations, forming powerful combinations for good.

Each year, the Business Journal honors charitable collaborations, typically unions between nonprofit organizations and for-profit companies, through our Partners in Philanthropy Awards. The program was expanded last year to recognize some of the people driving these efforts with the addition of a Faces of Philanthropy category.

To determine the honorees, we solicit public nominations of impactful philanthropic partnerships and individuals. The nominees are then reviewed by the Business Journal editorial board, with selection based on scope and impact of the work measured by fundraising, volunteer hours, citizens served and other metrics. Nominated organizations must have a presence in the region to be considered, and individuals must be Philadelphia-area residents.

This year, we are recognizing 26 partnerships and 10 people for their work in the Greater Philadelphia community.

All of the 2026 Partners in Philanthropy and Faces of Philanthropy honorees will be honored with a luncheon at The Lucy by Cescaphe on April 9 and profiled in a special print edition of the Business Journal on April 10.
